Introduction to Commercial Economics
A proposed applied school of physical economic development
Summary
Research overview.
A framework for studying and designing the institutions, capabilities, value chains and physical systems through which a society produces useful goods and services.
Commercial Economics is proposed here as an applied research program for building productive capacity. It studies the connected systems that allow people and firms to produce: resources, agriculture, industry, construction, logistics, infrastructure, services, finance, institutions and technology. It turns a regional development question into measurable decisions about capability, imports, investment, governance and results. Youth Technologies developed the integrated formulation from first principles for its stewardship work, informed by established economics, engineering practice and historical development cases. The theories are working hypotheses for pilot testing and independent review, not a claim that the field is already an established discipline.
Founding question
How can we create or develop a productive society in the newly developed New Delta and other projects across Egypt?
Intended audience
